About 2% of this Amazon Rain forest lies within Ecuador’s borders in the foothills of Cordillera of the Andes, and you are currently in this 2% which although it is a small proportion, it contains about a third of its diversity!.

The Rain Forest Cuyabeno protects 603.380 hectares. Crossed by the Equator in the northeast area of the Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest, Cuyabeno is home to some different communities each one with its own cultural identity. In Cuyabeno it is possible to identify over 500 different species of colorful birds starting from tiny hummingbirds to the majestic Harpy Eagle, which is found just in the rainforest, there are 240 different species of plants in one hectare, each one with a specific practical and medical use. Jaguars, Monkeys, Anteaters, Sloths, Dolphins ( Inia Geoffrensis and Sotalia ), Manatees, and Armadillos, are just some of the mammals that live in the Cuyabeno Reserve.

We have developed a responsible tourism policy, which we try to respect as much as possible, providing a sustained commitment to communities and the environment, to ensure we have a lasting positive effect. RAIN FOREST CUYABENO TOUR SUMMARY

The tour starts and ends near Lago Agrio City, at the bridge of the Cuyabeno River There are two direct ways of traveling from Quito to Lago Agrio, by plane and by bus,  either way, we will assist you with the bus or airplane tickets arrangements. If you travel by bus, you will leave Quito at night around 23h00. Departs are every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. On the last day of the tour, you will be back on the same bridge, where the shuttle service will be waiting to take you back to Quito, arriving around 20h00 in the capital.

Day 1. Arrive at Lago Agrio and the Bridge, where you will meet the guide and crew, Descending downstream in a dugout Canoe to the Lodge for about 3hs approx. you will reach the Lodge In the Afternoon, after lunch you will do a hike in the Forest and at night a delicious dinner.

Day 2. Early in the morning, we’ll explore the area looking for monkeys and birds in the tropical rainforest. Return for Breakfast, We’ll learn how the most diverse life forms can coexist and survive in nature side by side within a delicate balance.  At night and After dinner, we’ll explore the lodge’s surroundings to look for nocturnal animals such as insects, spiders, snakes, and frogs, a live which become active when the sun sets.

Day 3. After breakfast, we’ll have an interesting activity. We will visit our Indigenous Siona community to share their daily life in the Amazon Basin. . Return for lunch. In the afternoon we’ll travel by motorized canoe up the Cuyabeno River to reach the Laguna Grande. Later we’ll continue our adventure observing the nocturnal fauna of the river landscape with some species of bats and we will look for caimans on the way down to the Lodge. Dinner

Day 4. . After breakfast, we will explore through the forest. Our guide will tell you more about the medicinal use of the flora as it has been used by native cultures for generations and how they could survive in the jungle.  In the afternoon, we’ll explore the Cuyabeno River by paddling canoe to enjoy the views of this exceptional scenery and listen to the sounds of the jungle as we look for exotic local species. Really an amazing activity.

Day 5. Optional morning excursion includes a short trip by canoe. We will look around and try to find species of monkeys and birds and maybe sloths on the way in the surroundings of this spectacular place. After breakfast, you will have time to pack your luggage for the return journey. We provide a box lunch for the trip back to the Bridge, where the bus shuttle is waiting to drive back to Quito around  16:00.
