We had an amazing experience attempting to climb Cotopaxi with Freddy and his very experienced guide. It was very well organized with all of the gear we needed. We felt very safe on the climb and the guide was very good and setting the pace that we could manage. We didn’t make it to the top as the altitude got to us, but it didn’t take away from the experience at all, it was the hardest but best thing we have ever attempted.

Master Guide Freddy Ramirez is the best of the best. I’ve stayed at his hostel and have climbed with him on numerous occasions over the past 16 years. He is extremely trustworthy, ethical, and attentive to his clients. I can honestly say that I apply the breathing techniques he taught me nearly every day whether climbing, biking, or in the gym. Beware of guides who are quick to take your money without proper acclimation prep or instruction. Not only is Freddy honest and dependable, he’s climbed all over the world, speaks about 5 languages, and is a wealth of knowledge about all things Ecuador. If they made a movie of his life, it would definitely be Oscar worthy!

Freddy hat uns die Türen zu einem langersehnten Traum erfüllt: Einmal im Leben in den Anden Bergsteigen. Mit einem perfekt durchdachten Akklimatiserungsprogramm mit wunderschönen Lodges, sehr guter Vorbereitung, Einblicke in die Natur und Kultur Ecuadors sowie seiner jahrzehntelangen Erfahrung können wir auf ein traumhaftes, unvergessliches Erlebnis zurückblicken. Freddy kennt die Berge Ecuadors wie seine eigene Westentasche und wir haben uns immer perfekt betreut und sicher gefühlt. Denn: Sicherheit und ein sicheres Runterkommen standen immer an erster Stelle. Außerdem spricht er sehr gut Deutsch und kennt die Bedürfnisse und Wünsche europäischer Gäste sehr gut. Shannon Kimball and I had a great time climbing with Estalin and Freddy from Sierra Nevada. We did several nice acclimatization hikes and peaks before climbing Cayambe in early January. Our guide Estalin was extremely knowledgable, helpful, patient and a very strong climber. We would strongly recommend Sierra Nevada if you are looking for a climbing guide service in Ecuador!
